NARROWSBURG, NY — The Act Underground Theatre Company will hold its season opener fundraiser at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, 37 Main St., on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m.: the Readers Theatre production of “Greater Tuna,” by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard.
ACT Underground has designated 2018 “The Season of Suffering Fools.” In “Greater Tuna,” a hilarious send-up of small-town morals and mores, four actors create 20 upstanding citizens of Tuna, Texas’ third-smallest town. The long-running Off Broadway hit is a “tour de farce” of quick-change artistry and characterizations faster than a jack rabbit runs from a coyote. Four actors, 20 characters, and a barrel of laughs.
“Greater Tuna” opened Off Broadway, ran for over a year, and went on to tour major theaters all over America and spots overseas for the next 30-some years, becoming one of the most produced plays in American theatre history.
Players Laurie Guzda, Heidi Mollenhauer, Peter Walsh and Hudson Williams-Enyon will be directed by Kyoshin Lohr. The production team is Alan Kehoe, Sean Harrington and Sean Harrington.
As this is a fundraiser for the theatre, there is no set ticket price, but your generosity will be appreciated. Doors open at 7. Seating is limited; no reservations.
