Election Day is Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

As a reminder, the River Reporter does not endorse any candidate in local, state or national elections. Our mission is to provide objective, fact-based journalism and to report on all candidates and issues with fairness and impartiality.

Local elections shape the day-to-day life of our communities. From schools and roads to emergency services, housing and taxes—local officials make decisions that affect our neighborhoods in direct and tangible ways. Yet, these elections often see the lowest voter turnout, meaning a small number of votes can have an enormous impact.

By voting in local elections, citizens ensure their voices are heard on the issues that matter most close to home. Every ballot cast is a step toward more responsive leadership, greater accountability and stronger communities. Democracy doesn’t just happen in national elections—it starts right here, where we live.

We encourage readers on both sides of the river not only to get out and vote, but also to inform themselves on the candidates and the issues as best they can before heading to the polls this Tuesday. (And ideally… all year long!)

Remember, social media posts don’t always show the whole of a story and yes, candidates really are competing hard this year for your votes.

Delve into our news coverage of select local races here. After that, read the My View and Letter to the Editor sections, where your neighbors weigh in on local issues and candidates. Finally, check out the candidate statements for yourself here and see what your local officials have to say in their own words.

It’s important to realize that your vote is your voice, and every vote matters, especially in local elections.
