It's summer, and that means another issue of the River Reporter's Upper Delaware Magazine! We hope you're getting out there and enjoying the season's warm weather (and staying safe and dry in the midst of its storms).
There's a lot of history in the Upper Delaware, and lots of ways to experience it. There's plenty to say (and plenty that has been said elsewhere) about America's 250th anniversary, but that's not the only special celebration coming up this year! This year, too, is the 100th anniversary of Lake Wallenpaupack, a man-made lake created for the purposes of hydro-electric power. We'll take a look at preparations for that celebration; while across the river, we'll take a look at a new exhibit chronicling the history of romance in the Borscht Belt, as told by someone who has experienced it.
If you're looking for something more active to do, we're highlighting the tenth year of Get Trashed in the Catskills, an annual river clean-up with a distinctly celebratory feel. We've also got some guides for you as you hit the road, in the form of a road map for a day trip in the hamlet of Callicoon and a game to play nestled into the issue's centerfold. (No spoilers, but the name of the game rhymes with that of one of the four members of the Beetles.)
Thank you for reading this issue of the Upper Delaware Magazine! We hope you enjoy—and afterwards, we hope you put the paper down and get out there to experience all the Upper Delaware River Valley has to offer.
