HIGHLAND, NY — Disposing of important documents in the Town of Highland has just gotten a whole lot easier with the placement of a shredder drop box outside the town hall.

The project came out of the Town of Highland Lions Club.

Highland used to have a company come in once a year to shred the community’s documents, said Lions Club president Claudia Bocker. With long lines of community members at that once-yearly event, Bocker saw the need for a more sustained shredding presence in the community.

The club reached out to Proshred Security, a shredding company with a variety of document-destruction services, and arranged for a shredder drop box to be located outside the town hall. Proshred will come and pick up the documents from that drop box for shredding on a monthly basis from now on.

In addition to the Lions Club, the Town of Highland, the Greater Barryville Chamber of Commerce and Jeff Bank all helped cover the cost of the shredding service.

“Everything the Lions Club does is for the community,” said Bocker.
