One morning last week, when I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with the world and the challenges we face, I rose from my home office desk and stood quietly.
I've taken to stopping and standing still, hands on heart and centering when panic descends or I am unsure what to do next.
As I stood there, three lines came to me.
"I am rooted to the earth.
I am connected to the sky.
I am the strand, in between."
I was stuck in that moment how as humans we are rooted to nature, to the energy that fuels all life. At the same time, we are connected to energy that is greater than ourselves, and the sky as a metaphor for that space is apt.
That moment, indeed every moment we actively stand as the strand between earth and sky, is the moment where we have agency. It is there that we can affect positive change.
In that change comes our freedom and growth.
