BUSHKILL, PA — Starting April 27, Tai Chi for Arthritis will be offered at the Bushkill Center in Pike County.
The program is proven effective by medical studies and is supported by arthritis foundations worldwide, according to the center. Tai chi can be practiced sitting, as well as standing. Almost anyone of any physical condition can begin and continue to progress regardless of age.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, qi is essential for health and vitality. Tai Chi for Health programs are designed to enhance qi. Thus, practice of the forms not only improves the specific condition but also benefits almost all aspects of health.
Originating in ancient China, tai chi is described as one of the most effective exercises for the health of mind and body. The movements are slow and gentle, and the degree of exertion can be easily adjusted, making it suitable for people of all levels of ability, the center said.
Meeting dates include April 27, May 4, May 18 and June 1, with more to follow.
