Whatever your political stripe, we probably all agree that we have a changed national landscape.
We have an incoming leader who has made it clear that he will refashion the American government.
Since the election demonstrated a just-over-50/50 split in our two-party system, it shows that we as a community have a split perspective on what we would like to see in that refashioned world.
In these tumultuous times, the River Reporter is bringing back an old column: the Monthly Conversation Experiment. Each month, we will ask you to weigh in on what’s important to you and how positive change will be manifested, in our country, in our region. Each month, we will publish your responses online and in print.
This month’s prompt asks: “What is your greatest fear?” and “What is the greatest opportunity of this time?”
We invite you to submit short written reflections, artwork and poetry that express your feelings, hopes, opportunities and fears about the time that we will enter collectively.
You can answer one or both of the prompts. (Answering both could expand readers’ understanding of the complexities that we all face—but of course you can answer just one.)
If you would like to use your name, to be published, we’re happy to oblige. If you’d rather be anonymous, please include your name, phone number for verification, your hometown and an alias that we will use to identify you. Think, Dear Abby.
Send submissions to editor@riverreporter.com. Final deadline for submission on this prompt is December 5.
