TOWN OF CALLICOON — On Friday, November 22, 2024 at about 6:20 a.m., the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle fire on County Route 121, known as the North Branch Road, in the Town of Callicoon.
At the scene, deputies found a gray 2015 Chrysler 300, which had approached a downed tree across the roadway and then attempted to turn around. While making a U-turn, the vehicle became entangled in electrical wires connected to a nearby utility pole. The driver exited the vehicle and was electrocuted when his foot touched the pavement.
The Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as 28-year-old Scott Pisall of North Branch, NY. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical technicians.
Responding to the accident were the Hortonville and North Branch Fire Departments, Upper Delaware Ambulance, Sullivan County EMS, Mobile Medic and Sullivan County Coroner Alan Kesten.

Such a tragic accident. Thank you for reporting on this, and I hope that readers take note of the danger involved with downed power lines. I made a mental note that if I found myself in this situation, I would use my phone to call 911 and stay in my vehicle until help arrives and gives me instructions.
