When Town of Cochecton Supervisor Gary Maas was temporarily sidelined due to illness earlier this year, deputy supervisor Ed Grund has stepped up to perform the needed duties to keep the town running.
Maas fell ill at the start of February, and went in the hospital mid-February, Grund told the River Reporter. While Maas was incapacitated, Grund had the ability to sign checks and continue the other duties bequeathed to the office of the town supervisor.
At the time, Grund said he planned to run for supervisor in November, as Maas had previously decided not to run for re-election. “I’m thrown in the job sooner than I was planning on,” he said.
With Maas back in business as town supervisor, Grund has thrown his hat in the ring as his successor.
