The current administration seeks to divide us, to confuse us, and to distract us. We don’t have time to catch our breath between dubious executive orders, extra-judicial actions and other garden-variety unconstitutional acts.
They want us to focus on the “other,” to blame the “other,” but I propose we focus on our community instead.
Rather than focusing on those who qualify for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Medicaid, Head Start, LIHEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance Program) and other safety net programs that are all but invisible to many residents, let’s look at the local businesses and institutions that benefit from those programs. Wayne Memorial Hospital, nursing homes, grocery stores, oil and gas companies, etc.
Our local businesses and institutions are vital to this place we call home. These businesses employ other members of our community, who also spend their money here. Who benefits from SNAP, Medicaid, LIHEAP, Head Start and other social safety net programs? You and I do. Wayne County does. We all benefit, because a rising tide lifts all boats.
Contact Rob Bresnahan, Dave McCormick and John Fetterman and let them know that we, the people of Wayne County and these United States, will not stand idly by as tax cuts for billionaires damage our community.
