MATAMORAS, PA ― The Pike County Commissioners and the Pike County Career Center will hold the ninth annual Working Pike job fair on Tuesday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Best Western Inn at Hunts Landing, located at 120 Rte. 6.

More than 70 employers from the tri-state area are expected to participate, offering positions in a variety of industries, including health care, hospitality, financial services, manufacturing, law enforcement/corrections, recreation, sales and more. Positions available range from entry-level to managerial. There is no fee for job seekers and no RSVP is necessary.

The job fair presents “a valuable opportunity for job seekers to connect with employers, learn about local positions and discuss credentials, all at no cost,” said Cindy DeFebo, director of the Pike County Career Center. “The career center is committed to building a strong workforce by connecting local talent with local employers.”

This year’s sponsors include Lackawanna College Lake Region Center, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, Bold Gold Media Group, Neversink Media and Mr. Shane’s Restaurant at the Best Western Inn at Hunts Landing.

Working Pike has a stated mission of building a stronger community through the partnership of government, community and faith-based organizations. The career center is also available to assist with updating resumes prior to the fair and might be able to provide professional interview attire from its clothes closet.

To schedule an appointment, call the office at 570/296-2909.

For employers

Employers who are struggling to find qualified workers should attend the job fair. Upward of 350 job seekers from across Pike, Monroe and Wayne counties in PA; Sullivan and Orange counties in NY; and Sussex County, NJ attended last year’s event. All job seekers will receive an employer directory that highlights each company as well as the employment opportunities available.

Business registration closes on Tuesday, March 31; complete the form online at www.pikepa.org/careercenter. The registration fee for businesses is $60; those who choose to pay by credit card will incur a 3 percent processing fee.

For additional information on the job fair, contact DeFebo at 570/296-2909 or cdefebo@pikepa.org.
