The Wayne County Arts Alliance (WCAA) is “committed to developing a dynamic, art-friendly atmosphere in the community, one that enhances and enriches the lives of its citizens.” It supports the arts with programs and activities, produces public artworks like the Great Wall of Honesdale, and has an outdoor exhibit in Hawley. Numerous businesses display WCAA work.
Currently:
Two exhibits are on view until June 14: “Dent,” an exhibition of work by artist Jeff George, and “Inspired By Song,” a collaboration between the storytelling group Yarnslingers and WCAA member artists, who created works based on songs.
“The Chair” will be on view from Memorial Day (May 26) until Labor Day. Artists turned chair frames into beautiful and intriguing works. The chairs will be located outside sponsoring businesses.
Coming up:
The 10th edition of the Great Wall of Honesdale will be unveiled in mid-June, and the art can be seen at Main and 4th Streets until next year.
June 19-July 19: The Artists’ Studio Tour takes place in July, but you can get a preview in an exhibit at the WCAA Gallery. Featured are works by all 20 of the artists on the tour. An opening reception will be held Friday, June 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Wayne County Creative Arts Council (WCCAC) will once again hold its free summer concerts, a celebration of music and arts in Honesdale’s Central Park. All concerts take place at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays in Central Park except Monday, June 30, when no concert will happen. Instead an Independence Day celebration starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1 in Central Park.

The Wayne County Fair has been a symbol of agriculture and fairground fun for over 160 years. It sees over 100,000 visitors each year. The Wayne County Historical Society is the “home of the full-size replica of the Stourbridge Lion, the first locomotive to run on the commercial track in the United States.
