This year, for Memorial Day the Laurella 4-H Club embellished the gravesites of our fallen soldiers.
The club started the day with the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge. Soon after, members began replacing the old flags with new, stunning ones.
This year they were able to replace the flags at two different cemeteries. Despite the rain on the second day, the club eagerly and wholeheartedly completed the task. Members replaced over 500 flags. It filled their hearts with joy to know they are doing something meaningful. The only tragic thing about this community project is that it pains the hearts of many to know there are so many fallen soldiers.
This year, we celebrate the 250th birthday of our beautiful country. America never would’ve made it so far or been free if it weren’t for the sacrifices of all our soldiers. If you are a Veteran reading this, we thank you for what you’ve put on the line and salute you.
