In a world where you cannot tell what is real and what is a deep fake, it's good to be reminded that the future will be the making of a comfortable living from a small piece of land."
While we all cannot be farmers, I have taken to walking around my yard with my coffee, admiring the garden, the fruit trees, the blueberry and raspberry bushes, and the mint growing among the weeds along the side wall. I will soon stop harvesting the asparagus and allow the stems to put forth ferns to gather the sunlight to sustain the root system.
There is a fragrance and a rhythm to our lush landscape. There is awe in the sunrise and sunset. There is a moment of peace in connecting to a small piece of land.
(And ticks! If you're walking in high grass or leaf litter, better not to stroll in your pjs; long pants and socks are a really good idea. )
