The Democratic Party needs to step up

Posted
When the Trump administration flagrantly denies constitutional rights to citizens and non-citizens alike, it is making a clear declaration that they can deny anyone’s rights whenever they choose. It represents the destruction of the very concept of rights—because a right, by definition, cannot be taken away.

The implications of the Trump administration actions, punishing people for speech(1), denying due process rights to people swept up in ICE raids(2), and suppressing constitutionally protected protests(3), are that no one has anything that could be called “rights” anymore. What we have are privileges that can be withdrawn at any time at Donald Trump’s whim.

Many in our communities believe they have the right to own a firearm. Not anymore. If Trump can take away the rights of others he can take away your rights as well, including the right to own a gun. We have been warned that without an armed citizenry a tyrannical government could strip us of our rights. Not only is this happening now, but the mechanism is in place to bring about even further dystopian disarmament scenarios.

The way rights have been maintained up until now is that every government official swears an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. This publicly binds our leaders to honor the strictures of the Bill of Rights.

In January of 2025, Donald Trump swore a so-called “sacred” oath to protect and defend the Constitution. He has spectacularly failed in carrying out that duty. Beyond the denial of free speech and due process he has committed acts of aggression against other countries without a Congressional declaration of war(4), he has passed edicts to unilaterally alter the Constitution(5), has capriciously failed to enforce laws(6), and he has extravagantly made money off of his official position(7).

None of this should come as a surprise for a man who has never honored a single marriage vow.

I don’t think any of us need to be lawyers to see that breaking a solemn oath means the terms of your service are terminated. Effective immediately. That puts the onus on all of us who believe in constitutional government with equal rights for all, to remove Donald Trump from office as soon as possible. We should stop conferring legitimacy to his actions. He is not a legitimate president. His actions which are doing so much damage to the country, whether through ethnic cleansing by ICE thugs or legalizing corruption and discrimination, need to be stopped and reversed.

It must also be pointed out that the Democratic Party has abjectly failed at opposing Donald Trump’s rise and current governance. And at the heart of that failure has been the party’s doctrinaire embrace of Zionism and the foreign policy objectives of the State of Israel. That position lost them the last election and continues to prevent them from leading a serious opposition to Trump. To stop Trump we must end the genocide being carried out by Israel. The two are intrinsically linked.

Until Democrats make that connection, the rest of us are left to manifest our opposition to Trump and genocide in whatever ways we can think of. I believe it’s most important for us to re-examine our sources of information. All the major news and media corporations are lying and omitting and misdirecting us, perpetually. Find quality independent media and journalists. Stop reading the NY Times, Fox News and CNN. Check out the news in other countries to see how they tell the stories differently. We’re all living in propaganda bubbles and it’s important that we’re aware of it.

I would certainly never have titled this piece, Democrats Need to Step Up, anymore than I would have titled it Republicans Need to Do Better. The core of the statement is that the Republican Party and the Democratic Party, the two-party system, has disastrously failed at protecting the people of this country from tyrannical resurgence.

The citizens of this country are on our own to defend the constitutional order and no help should be expected from either party. Both parties, like all of our national media, are fully controlled by the techno-oligarchic, Zionist blob state. In politics as in media, we have to create our own avenues for information and change. National media is shut off from our participation or control. We hope that our small town papers will be forums for discussions on the big issues that affect us all.

Please retitle this, The Two-Party System has Failed.
