Ranking Member of the Assembly Agriculture Committee, Assemblyman Chris Tague, who is the Republican candidate for state senate in District 51, joined the USDA Special Envoy for American Landowners John Rich, rural activist Alexandra Fasulo, local leaders and farmers at a press conference in Schuylerville, NY to call out the loss of American farmland and Gov. Kathy Hochul’s Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission (ORES) overreach that eliminates local control and puts rural, upstate New York last.
Time and again, Hochul and her cohorts in Albany have pushed restrictive mandates and regulations down on farmers and rural businesses in upstate New York. This governor has said, on live television no less, that upstate communities “lack the sophistication” to negotiate on their own behalf. Upstate New Yorkers will not forget that when they go to the polls. We need to vote out Hochul and vote against her legislative lackeys as well.
“As Assemblyman, I have fought these bills when they come up on the floor; I have debated ORES and advocated for shutting it down; and as your state senator in District 51, I will bring that same fight to the Senate chamber,” Tague said.
