Halloween is just around the corner, and Lake Huntington is getting into the spooky spirit! With pumpkins on porches, colorful leaves falling, and costumes ready for a night of trick-or-treating, there’s plenty of fall fun in the air. Whether you’re heading out for Halloween festivities, enjoying a local event, or simply taking in the beauty of autumn in the Catskills, it’s a wonderful time of year in our little community. Wishing everyone a fun, festive and safe Halloween, filled with more treats than tricks.

Take a look at what’s happening around town:

The Cochecton Men’s Club has announced that they will not be hosting a Halloween party this year. Members voted to cancel the event following last year’s low turnout. However, there is still plenty of holiday fun to look forward to: The club will be hosting its annual Kids’ Christmas Party on Saturday, December 19, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mark your calendars for an afternoon of holiday cheer.

The Cochecton Youth Commission will be holding its annual Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 31 at 11 a.m. This fun Halloween event is open to Cochecton youth only, and sign-ups are required to participate. The youth commission is also looking for volunteers to decorate their trunks and help make the event extra special for local kids. Anyone interested in volunteering a trunk can call or text Heather at 845/796-6976.

The Delaware Valley Opera, 6692 Rte. 52 in Lake Huntington, NY, has a great lineup of live music planned for November at its Lake Huntington venue, with three performances featuring talented singer-songwriters from a variety of musical backgrounds.

The month kicks off on Saturday, November 7, with Rupert Wates performing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A multi-award-winning singer-songwriter, Wates combines unforgettable songs with virtuosic guitar playing. His music draws from folk, jazz and classical influences, creating a style that is uniquely his own. Known for songs that are witty, thoughtful and moving, Wates has spent years performing on the road and connecting with audiences through his music.

On Saturday, November 14, Davey O. takes the stage from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Buffalo-born singer-songwriter has been described as a songwriter with a journalist’s eye for detail and a poet’s ear for language. His Americana-inspired music explores the beauty and challenges of everyday life through carefully crafted songs and stories. With a warm voice and engaging performance style, Davey O. brings an intimate, thoughtful approach to the stage.

The weekend continues on Sunday, November 15, when Jesse Ruben performs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Ruben is a singer-songwriter who recently moved to Atlanta after spending the last 15 years in Brooklyn. His music has been featured on more than 75 million streams, and his song “This Is Why I Need You” has reached the top 10 in 12 different countries. His songs have also been featured on television programs including “One Tree Hill,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “Teen Mom.”

Tickets for each performance cost $20 in advance or $26 at the door. For tickets and additional information, visit www.myrivertickets.com or call 845/887-3083. With three different artists taking the stage over two weekends, November offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy live music close to home.

The Ride 2 Survive 14th annual fundraiser dinner dance will be held on Saturday, November 7 at Resorts World Catskills on Resorts World Drive in Monticello, NY. Anyone who is interested in tickets, call 845/707-2817.  Rooms will be available at the Alder, Resorts World Catskills.  There is a special rate for ticket holders.
