Spend an afternoon with Edgar Allen Poe

MILFORD, PA — “Come spark your Halloween spirit” on Saturday, October 24, with two shows (at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.) at Grey Towers National Historic Site.

Entering the Great Hall, guests will step back in time to the 1890s for “spirited and haunting readings” of some of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic tales, organizers said.

Poe’s books were found in the Grey Towers’ collection. Dramatic readings were a common form of entertainment for 19th-century families and the American Readers Theatre, a nonprofit performing arts organization dedicated to promoting literacy through dramatic readings, keeps this traditional art form alive.

Grey Towers is located at 122 Old Owego Tpk.

Tickets cost $20 for Grey Towers Heritage Alliance members, $25 for non-members/the general public and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.greytowers.org/events.

Attendees are advised that since this event takes place in the museum space, no tours or open house will be offered on this date. An 11 a.m. tour and an open house, held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., will resume on Sunday, October 25.
