I just got this email from SLAC. The old folks are acting up again. Their main topic of discussion is “Sullivan County is rapidly becoming a medical desert. Garnet Health has greatly added to this situation by gutting their campus in Harris, formerly known as Community General Hospital. This is creating hardships for patients and families within Sullivan County. The ripple effects, or tsunami, creates hardships for patients who use the Middletown campus in Orange County, with the excessive demand. We must develop a battle plan to force Garnet Health to bring back the Harris campus, so it serves the people of Sullivan County. That’ll be one discussion item. Action Plan?”
I have a related question that is too often asked me: it is “What is the difference, medical-wise, between Crystal Run in Rock Hill, Garnet (Community General Hospital at Harris) and the various emergency care facilities opening around the shopping centers?”
Also, what about a list of the various doctors and opticians left in the county? I was told that the eyeglass place in Walmart was closed because they could not get an optician.
I guess we old folks should not get old and not fall.
