According to A Single Bite, a non-profit Sullivan County-based organization, one out of five children in the county is hungry.

With those staggering numbers, A Single Bite currently provides weekly meals for over 900 families with school-aged children. The Sullivan Fresh program, sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension - Sullivan, operates two programs: the Sullivan Fresh Community Cupboard and the Sullivan Fresh Market program. Both programs work to overcome food insecurity within Sullivan County communities.

So yeah, it's true. Poverty is a very complicated issue, but feeding a child isn't.

And supporting organizations dealing with food insecurities is not complicated either.

Are you in need of food assistance or want to make a donation to organizations tackling this problem? Check out this listing of food pantries in the region.
