NEW YORK AND PA — You wouldn't know it, given the lack of an FDA press release, but shredded cheese has been voluntarily recalled by an Ohio-based company due to the possible presence of metal fragments.
The Great Lakes Cheese Company recalled packages of shredded cheese in many states, including New York and PA.
Time spent with Google did not turn up reporting indicating that there had been anyone harmed.
Great Value finely shredded low-moisture mozzarella is on the list (8-ounce and 16-ounce packages) and regular shredded (many packages).
So is Great Value Italian-style shredded cheese blend (containing low-moisture part-skim mozzarella, provolone, parmesan, romano, fontina and asiago cheese) in different sizes.
