MONTICELLO — At 1:43 P.M. on Sunday, June 22, 2025, Village of Monticello Police responded to a report of shots fired at the Monticello Housing Authority Apartment Complex located on Evergreen Drive.
A preliminary investigation thus far shows a male firing one shot from a handgun at another person during a verbal argument before fleeing on foot towards the area of West Broadway. Another male also armed with a handgun, then fired several shots at the first shooter, with himself then fleeing on foot towards the rear cul-de-sac area of the complex.
One of the fired shots during the incident went through a wall and into an apartment but fortunately there were no reported injuries.
New York State Police and the Sullivan County Sheriff Office assisted Monticello Police. Anyone with information about the incident can contact Monticello Police in confidence at 845-794-4422.
