Trump’s on-again, off-again trade war has been a disaster for many Americans. Autoworkers in the Midwest have been thrown out of work and billions of dollars in retirement savings disappeared overnight. Farmers are now shut out of the China market, the world’s largest buyer of American agricultural products.
The crazy way in which tariffs were suddenly imposed and then suddenly suspended shattered confidence in the American financial system. It also created ideal conditions for corruption. Anyone with precise knowledge of when the tariffs would be announced and when they would be lifted was perfectly positioned to take advantage of the wild swings in the stock market that were sure to follow.
Ordinary Americans didn’t have this insider information. Donald Trump and his family did.

Most definitely worse than sheer incompetence. The incompetence is partnered with hatred, malevolence and the pathetic need to dominate any situation. It is the exact opposite of the Golden Rule -- "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". It's a rejection of the fundamental philosophy that underlies many religions and democracy, itself.
