WAYNE COUNTY, PA — This past October, our Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) met to determine mini-grants for Wayne County classroom projects. It was the highest number of applications in YAC history, and only through debate and discussion were committee members able to narrow down the nearly $24,000 in requests to their budget of $6,000.

Our recipients for 2024 were:

$800 to the Central United Methodist Church Preschool to purchase a light table to develop students’ fine motor skills.

$350 to the Forest City Autistic Support Classroom to help cover the costs of field trips.

$100 to Western Wayne’s Community Connections to the watershed program to cover transportation costs.

$1,000 to the Forest City Regional Student Council to provide food gift cards for families in need.

$389.58 to Motherly Grace Essentials Project at Honesdale High School to supply low-income families with childcare supplies.

$700 for the Preston Student Council to start a hydroponics program.

$475 to Stourbridge Primary Center for noise reduction tiles for their sensory classroom.

$384 for Mrs. Agnello’s fourth-grade classroom to purchase Hugimals to reduce stress.

$225 to RDW Elementary to build a sensory classroom.

$180.93 for the Wallenpaupack Area School District to purchase a paper-cutting machine and associated supplies.

$395.49 to Wallenpaupack Aevidum for set-up costs for their health fair.

$500 to the Wallenpaupack Middle School Student Council as funding to offset costs for school merch clothing for students.

$500 to Wallenpaupack North Intermediate School to purchase a playground communication board for non-verbal students.

Congratulations and good luck to our 2024 recipients and thank you to our YAC members for their hard work and thoughtful selections!
