Refuah Health Center to build outpatient health clinic in South Fallsburg

SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY — Refuah Health Center will construct a permanent outpatient clinic to serve residents in and around South Fallsburg, supported by a $1,000,000 federal grant, announced the office of Representative Josh Riley (NY-19).

The new facility will provide primary care, women’s health services, mental health care and on-site pharmacy access for a diverse rural population. This project will replace temporary space the community has relied on for more than a decade.

“We are deeply grateful to Congressman Riley for his leadership and unwavering commitment to improving healthcare access across rural New York. He spearheaded this effort and was instrumental in securing critical federal funding to expand Refuah Health Center’s services in Sullivan County,”said Mrs. Chanie Sternberg, President & CEO, Refuah Health Center.  “This investment will allow us to reach more families who too often struggle to access essential health care because of distance, transportation, or provider shortages. Congressman Riley’s dedication to the people of his district ensures that rural communities have the same opportunity for high-quality, comprehensive care as those in urban areas—strengthening the health and vitality of our entire region.”

The funding is part of $2,634,000 in federal Community Project Funding (CPF) secured in the FY2026 Agriculture appropriations bill for three projects in Upstate New York, Riley announced. The other projects comprise $1,015,000 to replace a deteriorating firehouse in Guilford and $619,000 to renovate Margaretville Memorial Hospital's primary care facility.

Riley said, “In Upstate New York, our first responders and health care workers show up for their neighbors every single day. This funding is about showing up for them. It means Guilford’s volunteer firefighters will finally have a safe station to work from, families in Margaretville will have better access to care close to home, and South Fallsburg will get the permanent clinic it’s needed for years. I’ll keep pushing to make sure rural communities in Upstate New York get the resources they deserve, working closely with partners like Leader Schumer and Senator Gillibrand.”
