Pet lovers, written in the stars

Are you a pet lover, and is it in your chart?

Astrologically, the sixth house (H6) is related to pets. Anyone who’s a pet lover usually has many planets there, and they simply love their pets. If you have your sun sign or a stellium (a cluster of three or more planets in a single sign or house) in H6, the influence is magnified.

Another indicator of a pet lover are the signs Virgo and Pisces. They’re known for their caring natures, but they come out in different ways. If you have many planets in those signs, or they show up on the 6th or 12th house (H12) cusp, it’s likely you have a cat, dog and at least one other animal friend—or two.

Pet lover indicators in a chart

Houses are the way astrologers divide the zodiac wheel into chunks that describe where real-life actions take place. H6 is especially associated with pets, and H12 can often deal with pets.

I currently have two cats and a whole brood of tiny meowing kittens. The two cats are rescues that someone had heartlessly abandoned on a busy road along the river; my daughter was who drove by and rescued them. They’re the cutest, and without them, dealing with the pandemic-induced isolation would have driven me insane. They’re a welcome distraction from not only pandemics but also depressing news and politics. I do have a packed H6, including my Sun and Moon signs.

When my beloved dog died in a road accident, I was in mourning for three years. Our furry friends can have a huge impact on our mental health at the time of isolation and worries. After all, nothing beats a purring cat in your lap or a devoted dog that makes you take those daily walks and clearly thinks you’re the best thing on earth.

Virgo, Pisces and other supercarers

Virgo is the efficient, no-nonsense organizer: an earth sign, the prototype of a nurse who takes care of your needs efficiently but not with much emotion. Pisces is the opposite: an emotional, sentimental, caring water sign that you feel is on your side. Those born under Pisces might let others take advantage of them; Virgos can put the needs of others before their own.

Sun in Virgo or Pisces is very common among pet lovers, but also Moon in Pisces or Virgo persons tend to be extra caring and emotional about pets, especially abandoned or needy ones. Mercury in Virgo can write about or study pets, or supervise accounts in a pet-rescue facility, for example. Pisces Venus people just simply love pets and smother them. Venus in Virgo can be a little over-regimented with their pets’ diets and exercise but are good caretakers. Mars in Pisces might start a pet rescue operation, and Mars in Virgo might supervise it. Both can simply show their affection in energetic play or by organizing pet adoptions. Jupiter in Pisces can find real joy in pets, while Jupiter in Virgo might develop new pet training facilities.

Figure out if your new friend loves your pets

You know if you are a pet lover, of course, but you might want to confirm it’s really written in your horoscope. And if you meet someone new, you might want to take a look at their chart to see if they’ll love your pets as much as you.

There are the heavies of the zodiac that might be in H6 or affecting the planets there in a stressful way, and that could show problems with pets and small animals, but only in extreme cases and if there are other indicators in the chart.
