WATERKILL, NY — On February 23, the New York Scholastic 3D Archery (S3DA) championship was held. The team’s coaches, Laura and Noah Eisenhardt; Coach Shane Cunningham; Coach Scott Scardino; and Coach Ryan Terracciano, owner and operator of Catskill Outdoorsman and head coach of the Sullivan Catskill Archers, all went to support and help the team members. S3DA is a youth archery program that teaches safe and ethical bowhunting practices. S3DA provides opportunities to participate in tournaments and events such as regionals, which lead up to championship events. S3DA can be run through archery shops, schools, churches, etc. Sullivan Catskill Archers is a new participant in the program.

Doing S3DA can also benefit youth to get scholarships to shoot archery in college. Vincent  LoPiccolo is the S3DA coordinator in New York State.

“With the participation of the Sullivan Catskill Archers, it doubles the size of the S3DA program in New York State, and we are working to increase our numbers for next year through social media and contacts with other archery ranges,” Coach Scardino said.

After the indoor target season is over, the Catskill Outdoorsman S3DA archery team will be making its way into the 3D target season and will go to outdoor tournaments.

The New York State S3DA state championships might be over, but there is still a lot more to come.
