New crisis center to open in Honesdale

Located at 100 Park St., the center will offer an alternative to the ER if you need help

HONESDALE, PA — The Center for Community Resources (CCR), the Wayne County Office of Behavioral and Development Programs and Early Intervention (BDPEI) and Carbon-Monroe-Pike Mental Health and Development Services (CMP MHDS) will hold an open house for the Northeast Regional Crisis Stabilization Center beginning at noon on Friday, December 12. The center is located at 100 Park St.

The stabilization center is an alternative to the emergency room for those in need of immediate mental health support.

The stabilization center is the result of work by the three agencies since 2021, and will provide crisis intervention services and support to the local community, a CCR staff member said. People in need can “speak with skilled and compassionate crisis specialists when they walk through the doors.”

The center is the new home of Wayne County Crisis Intervention Services and will provide 24/7 telephone, mobile and walk-in crisis services to all ages. “The space is open to anyone so they can meet with staff and decompress during troubling times,” the staff wrote.

The center will also offer crisis residential services, which will provide a longer stay of up to five days for people aged 18 and older who decide to accept voluntary support to address their mental health needs. The eight-bed residence will be staffed with skilled mental health professionals and peer support 24/7.

The open house is a chance for the community to tour the new Northeast Regional Crisis Stabilization Center and learn about services firsthand.

For crisis intervention, call 833/557-3224 or text 63288. All services are free and confidential.
