HONESDALE—On May 29, 2025, Anthony Ryan, of Honesdale, PA, was sentenced to no less than two (2) months nor more than thirty (30) months incarcerated in the Wayne County Correctional Facility on one (1) count of Identity Theft and one (1) count of False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities

The first incident stems from June 11, 2024, when the defendant’s wife contacted Wayne County Detectives regarding a PFA Violation. The Defendant’s wife had taken a PFA order against a female, the victim in this case. On July 9th they reported that victim had posted a harassing message on her public Facebook page regarding the parties two young children.

County Detectives opened an investigation and interviewed the victim regarding the Facebook page, the victim alleged that she did not post the message and that the page in question was not hers. County Detective then filed a search warrant for the Facebook page and the IP address. Both came back to belonging to Anthony Ryan.

The Defendant denied any involvement and that the victim had access to their Wi-Fi account. Upon further investigation, Ryan admitted to creating the Facebook account in an attempt to make it appear that the victim violated the PFA.
