MONTICELLO, NY— Speaker Carl Heastie joined Assembly Member Paula Elaine Kay at the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless on Thursday, July 31, announcing $1 million to support the federation’s capital project goals as they look to improve their ability to provide food and shelter for Sullivan County Families.
“For decades, community members have been able to rely on support from the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless in their times of need,” said Speaker Heastie. “I’m honored to announce this funding today that will support the federation’s mission to continue providing vital resources to local families as they get back on their feet.”
Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Kay joined members of the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless Board to visit the federation today and hear more about their capital project plans. The funding will cover structural upgrades, ADA compliance, electrical and plumbing updates and hazardous materials abatement. It builds on a prior $100,000 grant from Kay that funded furnaces, handicap access and entrance renovations.
