NEW YORK'S 19TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT- Josh Riley declares victory at his watch party at an Ithaca brewery at 1:27 AM on November 6 “We won this thing,” he says. “I believe in building the middle class.” “Those are New York State values and I’m going to take them to Congress."
The Associated Press called the race at 1:17 AM.
In his victory speech, Riley said, “Our kids deserve a planet with clean air,” and "women deserve the right to make their own health care decisions."
"I was reminded that we aren't going to agree on everything but we will always strive to see the best in each other. What matters is that you're American and you voted, and that's one of the most patriotic things you can do these days."
The race is a key race in deciding if the US House of Representatives has a Democratic or Republican majority.
Congressman Molinaro has not yet conceded. Congressman Molinaro sent out a release on November 6 just before 1:00 PM that stated:
“As it stands, we trail by 3,500 votes and there are over 12,000 absentee and affidavit ballots that have yet to be tallied. These ballots will decide the race and we have to be sure every legal vote is counted. Whatever the result ends up being, I will accept it, and am beyond grateful to my family, friends, and supporters. I'll share updates as more information becomes available."
Sullivan County for Molinaro.
In Sullivan County, according to the county board of elections 57.08% of the vote went to Marc Molinaro, and 42.87% of the vote to Josh Riley.
