HONESDALE BOROUGH, PA — The Honesdale Borough Council voted three to two to appoint James Cordaro to fill the open seat on the council. The borough moved to fill the seat after Noelle Mundy resigned last month saying she would be moving outside the borough.
Council members Tiffany Rogers and James Hamill voted against appointing Cordaro, who was sworn in by the Honesdale Borough Mayor Derek Williams minutes after the council took the vote. Council chair James Brennan, William McAlister and Jason Newbon voted in favor. Prior to the selection of Cordaro, Larissa Llewellyn was not chosen in a two-three vote, along the same breakdown.
Hamill speaking before the council voted to nominate Cordaro said, “I’ve seen, certainly social media posts, that would certainly indicate Mr. Cordero’s divisive nature in public and that is concerning to me as well.”
There were four total submissions to fill the vacancy including Cordaro, Llewellyn, Joseph Mele and Patrick Resti.
