CALLICOON and JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — The following two events will be held at branches of the Western Sullivan Public Library.

‘Becoming Callicoon’

On Friday, October 2 at 6 p.m. in the Callicoon Branch (45 Lower Main St.), the Western Sullivan Public Library (WSPL) invites local-history lovers for a discussion about the history of the hamlet of Callicoon. Genealogist and historian Dorothy Hartz offers an inside look into the hamlet and its history, including the Curtis family and the records available at the library.

Constitution conversations

On Wednesday, October 6 at 4 p.m. in the Jeffersonville Branch (19 Center St.), the WSPL invites the League of Women Voters of the City of New York (LWV) to host a roundtable about the constitution.

What does the U.S. Constitution mean to you?

During our country’s 250th anniversary year, the LWV will encourage participants to start a conversation to explore the Constitution and how it impacts life today. Included in the presentation is a guided conversational video featuring Heidi Schreck, playwright of the Broadway show “What the Constitution Means to Me” and Ally Coll, associate professor of constitutional law at CUNY School of Law.

The group will have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions.

To register for either of these programs and to view others, visit the calendar at www.wsplonline.org. Email wsplprograms@rcls.org with any questions.
