MONTICELLO, NY — Bold Gold Media and the 48th annual 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon distributed $75,000 in grant funding to six Sullivan County organizations during a check presentation held recently at Resorts World Catskills.
The recipients included Garnet Health Medical Center - Catskills, which received support for a cardiac telemetry system in its Medical/Surgical Department; Sullivan 180 for its Warrior Teen Film Series; the STEAM Fund for its Full STEAM Ahead with Healthy Habits initiative; A Single Bite received funding for its Real Food Education Program; NAMI Sullivan County for mental health outreach, education and support services; and SUNY Sullivan for stethoscopes for the nursing program.
The Heart-A-Thon Committee also announced new leadership as planning begins for the 2027 event. Cris Spinner has been named committee co-chair, joining longtime chair Les Kristt. A dedicated community volunteer and civic leader, Spinner “brings new energy and leadership to an event that has become one of Sullivan County’s most enduring charitable traditions,” Bold Gold Media said.
The committee also named Jerry Skoda as honorary chair in recognition of his decades of service to Sullivan County. Skoda served as executive director of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County from 1968 to 1998 and played a significant role in advancing agriculture, education, economic development and community engagement throughout the region, Bold Gold Media said.
“With the addition of Cris and Jerry, we will be able to build on the many successful years before us and make the 49th Heart-A-Thon one of the best yet,” said Kristt.
“Bold Gold Media is proud to continue the tradition of the 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon and support organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of Sullivan County residents through heart health education, prevention, treatment, and community wellness initiatives,” said Dawn Ciorciari, general manager of Bold Gold Media’s New York region.
Now entering its 49th year, the 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon remains one of Sullivan County’s longest-running community fundraising efforts, providing critical support to local organizations while bringing residents together around a shared commitment to improving lives and strengthening the community, the media company said.
