PORT JERVIS, NY — The Savage & Smit Quintet will perform at Groove Port in the Upfront Exhibition Space on Saturday, October 3 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 1 p.m. for viewing the Fall Art Show; the cost is a $20 suggested donation.

Cash bar and cheese board boxes are provided by Port Provisions.

The Savage & Smit Quintet is Rick Savage on trumpet, Ian Smit on guitar and FX, Joe Vincent Tranchina on keys, Matt Pavolka on bass and Peter MacDonald on drums.

Educated at Indiana University’s music school, jazz trumpeter Savage has lived and worked in and around New York City for the past 25 years. He says he is proud to be a part of two CD projects for 2012: one for free jazz enthusiasts (“INNERrOUTe”) and one for straight-ahead jazz enthusiasts (drummer Eliot Zigmund’s “Trio EZ”).

The Upfront Exhibition Space is located at 31 Jersey Ave. in Port Jervis, and is reachable at 845/754-1808.
