Garrett Johnson charged in Susquehanna County triple homicide

GREAT BEND TOWNSHIP, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY, PA — On Monday, July 13, 2026, at  approximately 6 p.m., members of the Pennsylvania State Police responded to a  residence at 1208 Baptist Hill Road, Great Bend Township, Susquehanna County, for a  reported shooting. Upon arrival, troopers located three deceased individuals. The  victims have been identified as: 

  • Phillip Johnson of Hallstead, PA  
  • Kevin Igo of Susquehanna, PA  
  • Frank Talarico Jr of Binghamton, NY, Formerly from Florida 

The accused, Garrett Austin Johnson, 29, of Hallstead, Pennsylvania, was taken into  custody a short distance from the residence. The firearm in the incident was recovered  by investigators. Johnson has been charged with three counts of Criminal Homicide, as well as additional offenses including Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Recklessly  Endangering Another Person. The Pennsylvania State Police Troop R Major Case  Team, Forensic Services Unit, CARS, and the Susquehanna County District Attorney's  Office are assisting with the investigation. There is no threat to the public. Johnson was  arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jodi L. Cordner and remanded to the  Lackawanna County Prison without bail.
