One of my tasks each week is to read over the Where & When calendar before it goes to print. Curated by Jenny and Roger Snedeker, who gather events from 150 websites each week, the calendar serves as a quick reminder of all of the many things to do in the Upper Delaware River Valley.
From cultural events to outdoor and indoor activities to social events, educational classes, and support groups, a faithful Where and When reader can glean a wealth of information.
Such it was when I read that a local book club was reading a novel by Jacqueline Winspear. I was curious about the book and went searching for it on the Libby app, the digital gateway to the Western Sullivan Library network.
There I found a series of Winspear novels that features Massie Dobbs, a psychologist and detective, solving mysteries set in wartime stories of World War I.
Through the series (I listen to audiobooks, and on book 7), I get a glimpse of the long-lasting effects of nations at war and the many English lives that were lost in France during those years.
On the eve of Memorial Day, let us remember the many sacrifices that our fallen service members and their families have made.
