‘Dog Mom’ supports local humane shelters

MARGARETVILLE, NY — Beyond presenting entertaining regional theater, the Open Eye Theater is demonstrating “what it truly means to be a pillar of the community,” it wrote recently.
Running October 15 through October 25, the theater’s production of “Dog Mom” by Tate Elizabeth Hanyok and directed by Michelle Macau is teaming up with two area animal rescues—Heart of the Catskills Humane Society (Delhi) and Superheroes in Ripped Jeans (Oneonta)—for a community adoption and donation drive.

“Dog Mom” “delivers a witty, hilarious and deeply relatable look at modern pet culture, celebrating the unconditional bond between humans and their four-legged family members,” the theater wrote.
Throughout the entire run of the show, theatergoers can make a direct impact on local homeless pets:

Interactive adoption walls: The theater lobby will feature display walls with photos and info on pets currently awaiting forever homes at both Heart of the Catskills and Superheroes in Ripped Jeans.

Direct-wishlist donation boxes: Lobby donation boxes will collect specific items urgently requested by both shelters, including pet food, toys, blankets and essential care supplies.

Meet the rescues: Shelter representatives will be present in the lobby on select performance dates to connect with audiences, answer questions and facilitate adoption inquiries.

Tickets cost $25 for general admission, $10 for students, and pay-what-you-will on Fridays.
Reservations and information can be found at www.theopeneyetheater.org or call 845/586-1660.
