TUSTEN, NY — While the Town of Tusten is on the map as a New York State Climate Smart Community, it is now the first community that is home to an anaerobic digester powered by municipal solar energy.

On Thursday, April 22, Earth Day, the Tusten Energy Committee cut the ribbon on the HORSE, a High solids, Organic waste, Recycling System with Electrical output. The anaerobic digester was manufactured by Impact Bioenergy from Seattle, WA. Members of the Tusten Energy Committee who spearheaded the project will begin training on the how to run the self-contained facility that is located behind the Tusten Highway Barn on Route 97, south of the hamlet of Narrowsburg.
