NARROWSBURG, NY — River Reporter Online Editor and Production Manager Amanda Reed secured a third-place honor for Best Graphic Illustration in the New York Press Association (NYPA) 2024 Better Newspaper Contest. 

Reed’s award-winning illustration, published in the May 2024 edition of the River Reporter’s Fire and EMS magazine  and titled “When disaster strikes, whom do you call?,” gave readers clear and easy access to federal, state and county level resources for the event of an emergency. 

Judges for the NYPA contest said: “You jumped ahead of other excellent entries because you supplemented the ‘whom to call’ info with QR codes. That was brilliant.”

“How information is presented, with many points of entry for the reader, is important for comprehension. We’re fortunate to have Amanda Reed’s creative brilliance that elevates the tremendous journalistic work of all of the staff with well-designed pages and features,” said publisher Laurie Stuart.
