Chant leaves behind gift

MILFORD, PA — A gift of land is helping to protect one of the community’s critical natural resources: the local aquifer serving the Milford community. The 5.81-acre property located at the corner of Route 6 and Buist Road was donated to the Milford Water Authority by the Davis R. Chant family in his memory, “ensuring this important land and vital landscape will be preserved and protected for generations to come,” a news release announcing the gift reads.

On August 24, family and community members gathered for a dedication ceremony to honor Chant’s memory and celebrate this donation. Among those in attendance were Judy, Holly and Tamara Chant; Pike County Commissioners Ron Schmalzle and Matt Osterberg; Milford Water Authority plant supervisor Nick May; Milford Community Foundation executive director Rick Little; Chant Realtors Carly Longhenry and Lorraine Collins; Glenn Khoury of Encore Outdoor Advertising, who managed the sign project; Jim Pedranti; and Roseann Kalish.

“Davis R. Chant remains a deeply respected and much-loved figure in Milford, remembered fondly for his quiet generosity and genuine commitment to helping others,” the release continued. “Throughout his life, he gently found ways to give back to the community he cared for so deeply. His gift serves as a touching reminder that the most meaningful legacies are often built through quiet acts of kindness, careful stewardship and a sincere desire to leave the world a little better than we found it.”

Also thanked were John Duke Schneider, Esq., for his “constant, expert guidance and coordination of all aspects of the estate donation,” and Paul Golobrodskiy of Platinum Landscape Solutions; Fran Stoveken of Sequoia Tree Service; and Dingman Township and Milford Water Authority officials.
