ONLINE — Prospective horse owners can learn to budget for horse ownership during an upcoming Penn State Extension webinar.
The “Finances of Horse Ownership” webinar will occur from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20. Penn State Extension offers this event at no charge. The registration deadline is the same day, October 20.
With boarding fees, grain, hay, veterinary care and other routine expenses, the cost of owning horses can quickly add up. However, there also are many hidden costs that prospective horse owners may not consider before purchasing their first horse, according to organizers.
This webinar walks through the most common expenses associated with horse ownership and demonstrates how to estimate annual costs using a practical budget. All registrants will receive a budget template to help plan for these expenses.
Organizers note that whether one is new to horses or has been around them for years, this webinar will help participants better understand the financial commitment of horse ownership and be prepared to make informed decisions.
Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar. A link to the recorded webinar will be emailed to registrants within 10 business days after the live event. The recording will be accessible for six months from the event date.
