BJ Lohmann, age 49 of Narrowsburg, NY, passed away at home on Friday, April 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS. Beloved husband of Malinde (Kuehling) for 20 years and loving father to Brandon and Matthew.

Born on September 18, 1975 in Honesdale, PA, he was the son of Bernard Lohmann and Helen Head-Bossley and brother to Amy Lohmann and the late Thomas Lohmann.

BJ was a 1993 graduate of Narrowsburg Central School and received an associate’s degree from SUNY Delhi. He continued his education and earned his bachelor’s degree while employed at Sullivan County BOCES. BJ had a fulfilling and successful career as a tenured teacher in Auto Technology at Sullivan County Career and Tech.

He was a member of the NRA and the Lava Fire Department.

BJ was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and Jeeping. He loved auto mechanics and restoration and teaching his sons all aspects of the trade.

His dedication to his family served as a role model for his sons, who meant the world to him. He was so proud of the young men they have grown up to become.

BJ was a mentor to his students, who stayed in touch with him even years after they had graduated. He will be remembered for his kindness, unconditional love of his family and friends, his generosity, his witty sense of humor and, as his wife always joked, his uncanny wisdom of useless knowledge.
BJ is survived by his loving family: wife Malinde; sons Brandon and Matthew; mother Helen Head-Bossley and companion Gary Krantz; father Bernard Lohmann and wife Marie; sister Amy Lohmann; step-brother Scott Shuman; nieces Shayna, Rebecca, Delilah Lohmann and Alyssa Gettel; and several aunts and uncles. BJ was predeceased by his brother Thomas.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 2 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville; and Saturday, May 3 from 1 p.m to 3 p.m., with a memorial funeral service starting at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Hope Foundation 2025, 550 Pinetown Road, Suite 120, Fort Washington, PA 19034, 215/568-2426. Email info@alshopefoundation.org.
