ARNOLD 'ARNIE' G. GRUEL

Arnold “Arnie” G. Gruel, 92, a longtime resident of Barryville, NY, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Care Center at Sunset Lake, Liberty, NY. Arnie was the son of George and Gertrude (Rohe) Gruel. He was born on January 16, 1932 in Queens, NY.
Arnie was the widower of Marion (LeDoux) Gruel. She passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023. They were married for 60 years. They came to Barryville from Glendale, Queens, NY. Arnie was a retired Ford Certified Mechanic; he had worked for the Ford dealership in Jackson Heights, NY. Arnie was a U.S. Marine Veteran. He was a member of the Barryville United Methodist Church, Barryville, NY. He was a member of the Sylvan Liebla American Legion Post 1363. He was a member of the Town of Highland Seniors and a board member of the Lumberland Senior Group. He was very active and sharp as a tack up till the last month of his life. He is survived by his good friends Arlene Adamo, and Peter Carmeci and his wife Bonnie.
Cremation will take place at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA. A graveside service will be private at the Montoza Cemetery, Eldred, NY. Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Arnold to the Highland Ambulance Service, PO Box 215, Yulan, NY 12792.
