On December 18, 2013, in conjunction with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the New York State Police arrested John Raftery, age 43, of Pine Bush, NY for Grand Larceny in the Third Degree.

Earlier this month, Village of Chester Police Officials noticed discrepancies in the PBA account, and conducted an audit of their books, which lead to the investigation, and charges being filed.

Raftery is the current Village of Chester Police Department PBA President. He is accused of stealing over $7,500 from the Village of Chester PBA Fund from November of 2011 to December of 2012.

Raftery was arraigned in the Village of Chester court and released pending a January 9, 2014 court appearance.
