On April 24, 2014, the Orange County Child Abuse Unit, which is comprised of members from the New York State Police, Orange County Sheriff's Office, Town of Warwick Police and Village of Goshen Police, arrested a 47 year old man for the felony of Course of Sexual Conduct 1st and the misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

State Police in Troop NYC arrested 47 year old, Richard Pinero, after he was located in the Bronx. The arrest was made following an investigation of a report to the New York State Child Abuse Hotline which indicated that on more than one occasion while in the City of Middletown, Pinero had sexual intercourse with a 9 year old female of which he is an acquaintance.

Pinero was arraigned by the Honorable City of Middletown Judge Brockett and was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail.
