Monticello Police arrested James Colon, age 40, of Monticello on Wednesday 1/1/14. Colon was charged with felonies for burglary in the 2nd degree and grand larceny in the 4th degree.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday 12/31/13, Colon broke into a residence on Cottage Street in the village of Monticello. Colon entered the residence by breaking in through a rear door.
Colon then stole a 50-inch flat screen TV valued at more than $1,000 from the residence and fled. Based on witness information at the scene, officers were able to develop Colon as a suspect.
Colon was located by officers at 3:15 a.m. this morning and was subsequently arrested for the burglary. Colon was arraigned before Town of Thompson justice Martin Miller and remanded to the Sullivan county jail without bail pending further court action.
