Youngsville man arrested for stolen credit card

On May 31 the Village of Liberty Police Department Detective Division arrested Jason Banks, 26 of Youngsville after an investigation into the fraudulent use of a stolen credit card.

Village of Liberty Police were alerted to the fraudulent use in early May when the cardholder reported her card lost and approximately $200.00 of cigarettes and gummy bear candies fraudulently charged to her card at a gas station in the Village of Liberty.

Police investigation revealed that Banks had obtained the card in an illegal manner, had fraudulently used the card at the gas station and forged a signature on authorization slip purporting to be the cardholder.

Banks was arrested on Friday afternoon without incident and arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court. He was charged with forgery in the 2nd degree, grand larceny in the 4th degree, both felonies and petit larceny, a misdemeanor. He was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
