Traffic stop leads to arrest of Pennsylvania man for gun and drug charges

The New York State Police announce the arrest of Rahdir Maxton, age 19, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, for the felony charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, the misdemeanor charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, (2 counts), and Unlawful Possession of marijuana, a violation.

On February 20, 2013 at approx 1:25 AM, Troopers stopped a 2003 Honda Odyssey for a vehicle and traffic law violation, northbound on Interstate 87 in the Town of New Windsor, NY. A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle and passengers which revealed a loaded Taurus .380 caliber pistol in Rahdir Maxton’s possession in addition to oxycodone and marijuana.

Maxton was arraigned by Newburgh Town Justice Richard Clarino and remanded to the Orange County jail in lieu of $10,000.00 cash / bond bail. He is scheduled to return to the Town of New Windsor Court on February 26, 2013 at 9:00 am.
