On December 11, 2011, the State Police in Montgomery and the Troop “F” State Police Forensic Identification Unit responded to a report of skeletal remains located in a wooded area off of Forge Hill Road and State Route 94 in the Town of New Windsor.
After searching a heavily wooded and marshy area, investigators recovered several pieces of skeletal remains which were turned over to the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination by an anthropologist.
State Police were advised of the skeletal remains by a local area resident who had been walking his dog when he stumbled over the bones.
State Police along with the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office will continue this investigation to determine further specifics regarding the origin of the skeletal remains.
